Burebista & DECEBALUS

Burebista was a powerful king of the Dacians who reigned in the 1st century BC. He is known for unifying the Dacian tribes and creating a strong kingdom that posed a significant threat to the Roman Empire. Burebista was a skilled military leader and strategist, employing the tactics of the mounted warrior, symbolizing his great strength and leadership. He is often regarded as one of the most important figures in Dacian history, both as a conqueror and a protector of his people.

Decebalus, the last king of Dacia (87-106 AD), is remembered for his fierce resistance against the Roman Empire, particularly during the Dacian Wars led by Emperor Trajan. His leadership in the defense of Dacia made him a legendary figure. Known for his cunning and valor, Decebalus fiercely fought to protect his kingdom from Roman conquest. His strength and strategic mind made him a formidable opponent, and his legend is tied to both his military prowess and his role in the Dacian resistance.

Carlo Troya, Italian historian (1784-1858):

No people among those the Greeks called barbaric have an older and more certain history than the Getae or Goths. The purpose of my work, History of the Getae or Gothic, is divided into two parts, one of which shows that the Getae of Zamolxis and Decebalus were the ancestors of the Goths of Theodoric from the Amal family.”

Paul MacKendrick, Europe from the Atlantic to the Urals: „BUREBISTA and DECEBALUS created in Dacia a culture that only those with narrow views could call barbaric. The Romanians are members of one of the most remarkable creative states of antiquity. Up in Maramureș, there is a place marked as the center of the old continent.”

⚔️ The Yoke of the Getic Triumph 🏹

The hope of DECEBALUS had been fulfilled: The Empire had been toppled by the strikes of the people from the Danube. Rome itself, the conqueror of all peoples, had to serve in submission and accept the yoke of the Getic triumph.

Isidor of Seville, History of the Kings of the Goths, Vandals, and Suevi. Thus, even Pliny, Mela, and Solinus show the Getae as the people of Thrace. All the Thracians were one people, namely the Getae, as Mela (1st century AD) attests.

I have shown that the weapons of the Getae were victorious in Scythia, Thrace, Dacia, Moesia, along the Istrus, and on the Black Sea, and I said they had different names in those regions because of the variety of their settlements; but all were called Getae by both the Greeks and the Latins. However, with time, they brought their troops and banners to the farthest borders of Europe, and, in an even more aggressive manner, they tamed and subdued the fiery Romans, as well as Rome itself, and supposedly, they exhausted the Roman Empire to such an extent that from that point on, it became easier for other peoples to maneuver it, among whom, seizing the opportunity, most would gain the courage to shake off their long-lasting slavery and their exhausting yoke.”

Robert Sheringham, Disputation on the Origin of the Anglo-Saxon People.

„The GETAE people are Hyperboreans, descendants of giants or the ancient Titans, and with them, the gods were born. This truth was also known in the early centuries AD, as proven by Cassius Dio in Roman History LXVII, 7, where, after the battles at TAPÆ in 89 AD, Mato Diogio, as it is written in the lead tablets (called Decebalus by Cassius), was defeated by Tettius Iulianus. The Roman general adopts the pseudonym Hyperborean (victor Hiperboreo namen ab orbe tulit – being victorious, he took the name of Hyperborean).”
