In ancient myths, Hyperborea is a land of mystery and divine history. The Greek philosopher Plato once spoke of it, saying: “… the legendary territory of the Hyperboreans, where the souls of deceased heroes retreated to enjoy an eternal and happy life.” It is said to be a land where the first gods descended, bringing their power and knowledge to a primordial world, a time when giants first roamed.
The land we now call Romania is the chest of the world, holding ancient secrets and unseen forces that linger in the rushing waters of the mountains, in the rustling of leaves, and in the whispering winds of the forests. Deep within its rocks, prehistorical energies are locked, awaiting to be discovered. Following the great war between gods and giants, the Earth itself transformed into a giant stone slab. Then, a great flood submerged the land, covering everything until only the silence wandered alone. Eventually, the waters receded, and life returned to a New World. The Old World, it seemed, had long since vanished… or perhaps, it slumbers, waiting to rise again.
The Primordial Waters
In the aftermath of this ancient battle, tales speak of Gelonos, a great and powerful figure, brother to the Scythians and Agathyrsians. He is a key figure in the legends surrounding Echidna, a creature born of two monsters — Phorcys and Ceto, who emerged from the primordial waters. In some versions of the legend, Echidna is said to be the daughter of the titans Tartarus, from the northern lands of Istria, and Gaia, with a body half human and half serpent. Two wings, resembling those of the Carpathian griffins, sprout from her body. Together with Typhon, Echidna gave birth to many legendary monsters: the Chimera, Prometheus, Cerberus, Hydra, and Scylla.
Despite Echidna’s monstrous appearance, she and her lineage had a different fate. From the infernal flames of the Carpathian griffon 🐉 were born three extraordinary beings: Scythus, Gelonos, and Agathyrsus. These three heroes went on to become the founding fathers of their respective peoples. Gelonos, in particular, became the powerful and revered leader of the Gelonos tribe, forever intertwined with the ancient lands of the Hyperboreans. As the legend of Gelonos unfolds, we find him as a protector of ancient secrets, a warrior forged from the elemental forces of fire and nature.
